Cintra’s Year of Fundraising for COCO ends with a Splash!

2015 saw the ever generous staff at Cintra HR and Payroll Services take on their biggest fund raising challenge yet.  Staunch supporters of COCO: Comrades of Children Overseas, Cintra was keen to help them mark their 15th birthday in style and set out to raise a total of £15,000 for the charity by participating in 15 different fundraising initiatives.

During the course of the year staff participated in a variety of events including marathons in Barcelona and Venice, the Coast 2 Castles Cycle Challenge and last, but by no means least, a Boxing Day dip in the North Sea!

Boxing Day 2015 dawned cold, wet and miserable but the beach at Tynemouth was illuminated by an orange glow as a crowd of Cintra staff and their families gathered for their final fundraising event of the year.

Sporting their distinctive orange Cintra t-shirts and led by the Hoff himself (aka Cintra CEO, Carsten Staehr), 20 participants braved the elements, stripped to the bare minimum and ran head first into the substantial swell of the North Sea, cheered on by friends and family.

The dip raised a total of £2,000 which sees Cintra meet its fundraising target of £15,000, which will help COCO fund education and healthcare initiatives that make a big difference to the lives of children living in poverty throughout the developing world.

Katie Fitzpatrick, Bureau Team Leader at Cintra said: “I was amazed that so many people were happy to take part to be honest…I had my reservations but it’s been a fantastic morning.  As with all Cintra fundraising events it was really well supported and great fun.”

CEO Carsten Staehr was delighted with the turnout: “My Cintra family make me so proud.  I’m delighted that they have been so supportive during the year, but the fact that so many have braved the elements to come along today with family and friends is truly heartwarming.  Although I must admit that after a dip in the North Sea that’s the only part of me that is warm!”
