Talented Solicitor Makes the Mark

Will Sander, an Associate at Dickinson Dees who joined the firm in 2005, has become the only solicitor in the North East of England to also qualify as a registered trade mark attorney.
Sander, a solicitor specialising in Intellectual Property (IP) law since qualification, has spent the last three years working towards obtaining this dual qualification.
Will has undertaken a number of exams over the last three years and has attended the Advanced Trade Mark Law course at Queen Mary University, London in order to obtain this qualification. The course included examinations on advanced UK, Community and International trade mark law.
With an average national pass rate fluctuating between 30% and 40% of those who take the advanced exams, Sander is rightly pleased to become one of only a very few solicitors in the UK to be dual qualified.
Mark Pearce, head of the IP Group at the firm commented:
"We are absolutely delighted for Will whose hard work and commitment has reaped outstanding results. We are proud of his achievement as there are so few solicitors in the UK who can boast such a qualification.
Will's qualification adds to the existing expertise of our IP group, which already boasts the broadest knowledge and experience of any other firm in the region."
Speaking of his achievement, Sander said:
"It has been a challenging three years having to balance the demands of studying with my work commitments, but I am pleased with my achievement and also very grateful to Dickinson Dees for supporting me in my professional development. I am particularly pleased to have passed all the exams first time! I look forward to being able to put into practice all that I have learnt and believe this qualification further enhances the level of service we are able to provide to our clients."
With a lawyer trained to such a specialist level, Dickinson Dees is not only able to continue to dominate the IP field in the North of England, but is also well positioned to compete with some of the country's top IP law practices.
