Law firm shows its heart for Valentines Day

Date: Thursday 2nd February 2012 Time: 12:20pm

With so much doom and gloom in the news, Samuel Phillips Law Firm wishes to lighten the mood as Valentine's Day approaches by giving away free Valentine's cards featuring the Gateshead Millennium Bridge as the heart at the centre of the card.

Samuel Phillips is also using the opportunity to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation, and will be donating £1 for each card ordered in the run up to Valentine's Day 2012.

The cards can be ordered either by visiting the firm's offices at 52 Westgate Road, Newcastle, or by sending a text with the words ‘Law and Love' to 82010.  The firm will text back asking for delivery details, and for any personal message the sender might wish to include.  (Texts will cost no more than a normal message rate).  The last order for cards is midday on Friday, 10th February, 2012.

Samuel Phillips Law Firm hopes to inspire a fundraising boost for the British Heart Foundation during ‘National Heart Month'.  As well as donating £1 for each card ordered, the law firm is encouraging anyone who orders a card to visit its Justgiving website at www.justgiving.com/samuelphillipslawfirm to donate to the charity.  Alternatively, they can donate by texting FKAI76 and the amount, such as £1 or £5, to 70070.

Stephen Layden, British Heart Foundation Fundraising manager for Newcastle, said: "National Heart Month is an important time for everyone to think about their own hearts and the hearts of those around them.  Our Red for Heart campaign is our way of raising money to continue saving lives.  Thanks to Samuel Phillips for their support during February."

David Laud, Chief Executive of Samuel Phillips Law Firm, commented: "There's no shortage of bad news at the moment so we‘d like to offer an antidote.   We want the people of the North East to show their romantic and generous sides, and to help we're giving away free Valentine's cards and also raising funds for the British Heart Foundation's February campaign.

"Lawyers are not often associated with romance, creativity or giving things away, and we hope this unique idea will bring a smile to plenty of people this Valentine's Day."

The image on the card is of the Gateshead Millennium Bridge part opened in the shape of a heart.  David, who took the photo, added, "When I took the picture it struck me how much the shape of the two sections resembled a heart and the idea developed from there."

As an added incentive, Samuel Phillips is offering a prize of a meal for two for the most original or romantic message to be put in a card.

The free Valentines card is being promoted on Samuel Phillips Law Firm's range of social media sites including Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn.  Only one card is allowed per person.

Samuel Phillips Law Firm is based in central Newcastle and offers a comprehensive range of legal services to business and private clients.
