Directors school helps entrepreneurs mind the knowledge gap
Four of the region's leading business advisors have joined forces to help entrepreneurs get to grips with the raft of legal and financial considerations involved in setting-up a new business.
Directors School will be launched in September, and is a joint initiative between Crutes Law Firm, RMT Accountants, The Regional Technology Centre (RTC) and Murgitroyd and Company Patent Attorneys.
Over the course of four separate seminars business owners and directors will have access to some of the North East's leading business advisors who will walk them through every aspect of establishing and developing a business - including company set-up, how to secure IP, financing a business and how to approach international trading.
Many start-up companies fail due to lack of adequate business planning, and Directors School aims to help entrepreneurs gain the knowledge they need to succeed, and the know-how to put this into practice.
Anne Spetch, a partner in the Business Services Team at Crutes Law Firm, said: "Directors School is designed to help successful entrepreneurs avoid some of the pitfalls that can prove costly and ultimately make-or-break a young business.
"Directors School graduates will benefit from the experience of some of the region's leading business advisors, and there will be opportunities for one-to-one discussions and follow-up support."
The four seminars will be delivered by experts from Crutes Law Firm, RMT Accountants, Murgitroyds and RTC. All the speakers are experienced professionals who advise some of the region's leading business people on all aspects of establishing and running a business.
The events will be held at Durham County Cricket Club in Chester le Street on September 23, 2010, October 13, 2010, November 3, 2010 and November 24, 2010.
They will take place between 8.30am and 12.30pm and the cost of attending all four sessions is £500, however, delegates can apply for potential Business Link funding for at least 45% of that cost and, if eligible, Northumberland Business Services funding may be available to cover up to 100% of the cost.
