Managing Talent: Employment Law Update

Ongoing economic uncertainty and pressures on several sectors mean that many employers need to keep under review how they can react quickly to change.  More and more employers are also focussing on how they can ensure that their workforces are flexible and able to help the employer shift its focus to new markets, products and services.  Newly reported employment tribunal and appeal decisions are considering claims which have arisen from processes undertaken by employers in order to deal with the demands of the recession.  

The session will provide guidance for employers of all types, with hints and tips of relevance to management of change during any economic climate.

Chris Maddock and Tim Davies of the employment team at Muckle LLP will host a practically focussed session intended to review recent developments in the case law and practice around managing change which using practical scenarios will cover:

• The options open to an employer to vary pay, hours, roles and terms and conditions of employment in order to react to changes in their business;
• Issues arising on contracting out services or changes of contractors or service providers;
• Key legal and employee relationship considerations when planning a reorganisation - including the interaction between change and flexible working and equality and diversity considerations;
• Case law developments and practical tips in relation to the management of consultation and redundancy processes.

After the presentations there will be an opportunity to discuss any issue on a 1:1 basis with Chris, Tim or another solicitor from the Muckle LLP employment team.
